Jugni is an old narrative Punjabi folk music and sung at Punjabi weddings.The word literally means 'Female Firefly'.In spiritual poetry Jugni means the spirit of life, or essence of life.It is also used in humorous, sometimes sad or touching observations.Jugni is cross religious depending on the writer it has different form.
The late Legendary Alam Lohar (Punjab, Pakistan) and late Singer & Humorist Asa Singh Mastana (Punjab, India) are credited with popularizing this poetry.
