The Real Foreign Invasion - 'Us' vs 'Them'

Writing a post while standing in a train going at 100k’s is a tough job; but I must admit that it is fairly stable and not wobbly like old carriages. I am approaching the Stirling station on Joondalup line going towards Perth. The video from this station went viral for very humane reasons last year, when bunch of people relieved a man’s foot stuck between the platform and train, by pushing the train collectively.

A topic that touched my attention before the weekend and still afresh in my head is a post by someone called “Andrew bolt” and his column published in press - “ The Foreign invasion”.
I am unsure of the newspaper it was published in, as I read it online . To be honest I am hardly into politics and political commentary, but this column surfacing on social media caught my eye for very negative reasons.

In a very nutshell, for those who have not read it , it is basically like a complete grudge against everyone who can be termed different than “Us”. The column talks about how the Indians, Chinese, Jews , Aboriginals etc. are degenerating “ Our Culture” and how mass of “Non-English speakers “ are in-fluxing the country that there is no more of “Us”.

Very absurd, Isn’t it? , Well that’s how I felt. The earliest known settlers known on this land are Indigenous people. They have been labeled and treated as ‘flora and fauna’ for years. The huge number went through unimaginable period and if government is trying to lift them up now and undo all the wrongs committed in the past, then please let it happen. To keep 2% of your already down-trodden population into dungeon, is the last thing I would imagine.

Coming to Non-English speaking mass , since the days of early European settlers, everybody apart from the dwellers of  the Great Britain was considered Non-English. The Non-English speaking Dutch (mind you - Andrew’s parents were Dutch too , who settled in Australia in around mid 1900's) came here first, followed by the English speakers. Everyone lived in communities then; The Italians with Italians , The Greeks with Greeks and the English with English. This is obvious as people need help and comfort when they first arrive. There is no rational in complaining when everyone does this, and it happens now too. The Suburb of Butler in WA is full of new and old English arrivals, however it is no news at all  as it looks “Australian” to the most. My “Australian” colleague mentioned the other day that he will never live in Butler as it is full of “POMS” :) .

The farmers working in fields close to far northern suburbs in Perth could easily pass for being “ Chinese” for the most people, however they are second/third or may be longer generation Australians from mostly “Vietnam”. I am probably eating their produce since I arrived here in this lovely land, and so are those who were born and raised here. I am grateful to them.

I buy my produce and groceries from a fierce looking Italian’s (actually Australian) store, and everyone knows him here in WA. I owe a lot of my IT and Transport needs to my Indian mates , who may be very new here, however one gets easily bamboozled to find the roots of early Indian settlers as deep as 1800s, most of them Sikhs ( Did you know : Indians formed a large part of allied forces and there were Sikh Anzacs too).

There is nothing to be taken away from the early settlers, though, especially the ones who not only went to create a lovely nation but also raised their voice against injustice towards the natives. There are always good and bad people. We must understand that people always find a way to differentiate into 2 distinct groups - “Us” and “them” ; “Them” being bad and “Us” being nice. Anyone(including myself) thinking this way should definitely read “Factfulness” by Hans Rosling . This is the book to get right and current information about this world - A book Bill Gates refers to as one of his favourites.”

I see all communities working and doing their best , So rather than abhorring the “ different looking and thinking people “ embrace them as much as you . This is the fastest way that they and you will be “Us”.

We are all visitors to this time, this place. We are just passing through. Our purpose here is to observe, to learn, to grow, to love… and then we return home.

VIRTUAL REALITY

1:33 am is the best time to sleep, to dream; It is also the best time to ruminate on such a topic. To understand this topic, it has to be stated first the need of every single human ever on earth, which is to Socialize, to mingle, to have FRIENDS. Humans cannot pass their time in solitude, they need someone around to talk; share their thoughts; their sadness and happiness; their life.Let us examine the scenario, where someone, god-forbidden, does not have any friends. They may start making friends in imagination to socialize. This is where human creative power comes in handy. One may have fixed dream-mates who he can think about, play with, dine out, and pretty much do everything within the mind's eye.I can say here that the dreams are good. They open new frontiers to imagine in waywardness ,to go beyond the reach of even the brain itself, UP IN THE CLOUD.....

......UP IN THE CLOUD, where data goes. Amazing thing this cloud is, it backs-up all of the important computer data. Where does it take it - does it really go to the cloud, I used to wonder as an amateur Engineer. This technical term coined by the Technological fathers is misleading for many. The data stored in a computer's memory goes to the cloud, which is the huge memory(Server-farm,Data-center) built by a company. This is how all the iPhone information gets backed-up to the Cloud that is to the Apple's servers at various locations in the world.Similarly, the Google's and all those others.

To understand the dreams further, we should survey another technical concept - Virtualization. Suppose a family of three has just one Laptop - The Macbook PRO. The father likes Windows 7, The mother - being the linux fan finds Ubuntu amazing and the daughter, as she owns the MAC, is obviously a Mac-IOS fan. The daughter then on Christmas eve decides to fulfill everyone's wish and installs the Windows 7 and Ubuntu VIRTUAL MACHINES using VMware.Without being too technical, what is to be understood here is that the only LAPTOP in house now has all the Operating systems installed on it, which solves the purpose to the fullest.

Thing to be noted here is that this term - VIRTUALIZATION is as misleading as CLOUD (Cloud computing). As the cloud is not some imaginary mass in the sky but the servers that exist at some place. In same terms, Virtualization is not implicit in any way, the virtual machines are just part of a computer. They use existing computer hardware and software resources and are as real as the computer itself.

This leads us back to the imagination, the dreams. Dreams are just part of the same brain that is asleep and awake at different times; just like cloud, just like virtualization. We can then scientifically conclude that the virtual friends are as real as the real-ones or the real-ones are as virtual as the virtual-ones.With that note I need to go back to sleep and dream to explore the unbound boundries. As they say - 'One virtual friend is better than thousand real ones.'

NAASRO MANSOOR GURU GOBIND SINGH..........

Easy it may be for some to do the impossible, but the impossible of all those impossible deeds is to describe GURU GOBIND SINGH.
Nowhere in history will people find such an example ,if somebody doubts he/she just need to rake the history books.
Whatever one writes about him ,the words can never cover the value of his deeds. The effort below is not even a countless part of an drop in an Ocean.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"If ever the humanity seeks humility like Jesus, overflowing wisdom of Buddha, glowing face like Shri Krishna, maryada of Ram ji then they should see the multidimensional qualities of Guru Gobind Singh"  - Sadhu Vaswani.

It was in winter of 1666 A.D the leader of the Sikh faith, the 10th guru(DASMESH) was born and was named GOBIND RAI. Guru ji was an epitome of chivalry,  a warrior, poet, philosopher, scholar, skilled horseman, armed combat, chivalrous, and a generous SAINT SOLDIER .Even when he was a child he had many admirers, including a learned Brahmin called Pandit Shiv Dutt who used to call Guruji Bala Pritam ("child god"), a name that is used even today to refer to the Guru.
The time was challeging as the emperor of India AURANGZEB was on peak of his brutality and wanted to convert everyone to Islam and on the other hand Hindu society was suffering inside from an evil Brahamnical caste system according to which shudras were considered outcast and were treated no better than ants.
When Bala Pritam was 9 years of age ,Kashmiri pandits were forced to remove their religious threads(janaeu).Whoever refused ,consequences were no less than death. The Pandits had no respite and no option but to go to GURU TEG BAHADUR SAHIB(9th guru of sikhs and GURU GOBIND SINGH's father). The Brahmins bowed and requested Guruji that all this would stop only if a big personality sacrifices'. Bal GOBIND was standing nearby and said ,"Who is bigger than you father, only you can save them by a supreme sacrifice."It is a such a little age for a child to even think properly but Gobind Rai encourged his father to end the plight of the unpowerful.

Allah Yogi yaar khan has rightly remarked -

Ulfat ke yeh jalwe, kabhi dekhe nahi humne,
haan dekhna ek baat, sunay bhi nahi humne(Hindi/Urdu).
I have never seen such rare deeds done out of love (about Guru ji sacrificing His everything), What to say of seeing, I haven't even heard about them ever!
Guru Teg Bahadur ji was martyred at Chandni Chowk,Delhi(Gurudwara SIS GANJ is located at that place today),but before leaving he set Bal Gobind to be the 10th GURU.He was just a 9 year old surrounded by a quagmire with a cruel Aurangzeb on one side and Kings of Shivalik hills on other. Guruji was opposed by Kings of hills as he was against false practices and superstitions like Idol worship,Sati, worship of incarnations etc.He himself preached ,what he believed. His enemies were not people but Unrightiousness  and Injustice. He was Saint who had to lift the sword. He himself rights the reason for this-
''When all the stratagem employed for (solving) a problem are exhausted, (only) then taking your hand to the sword is legitimate."
He had to fight a load of wars with Mughals as well as their allies like Rajas of Hills ,but guruji fought all with Almighty's word and never lost one.
On 13 April,1699 Guruji created KHALSA(The Pure) in Anandpur Sahib,to demolish the anarchist caste system and create equals in the society and convert the cowards to braves. In an Congregation of thousands guruji drew his sword and asked for a volunteer who was willing to sacrifice his head. No one answered his first call, nor the second call, but on the third invitation, a person called Daya Ram (later known as Bhai Daya Singh) came forward and offered his head to the Guru. Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji took the volunteer inside the tent, and emerged shortly, with blood dripping from his sword. He then demanded another head. One more volunteer came forward, and entered the tent with him. The Guru again emerged with blood on his sword. This happened three more times. Then the five volunteers came out of the tent unharmed. These five, who were willing to sacrifice their lives for their Guru, were called Panj Piare("the five beloved ones"). These five volunteers were : Daya Ram (Bhai Daya Singh), Dharam Das (Bhai Dharam Singh), Himmat Rai (Bhai Himmat Singh), Mohkam Chand (Bhai Mohkam Singh), and Sahib Chand (Bhai Sahib Singh).
After Baptizing the five guruji himself was baptized by PANJ PIARAS and was know as GOBIND SINGH(from Gobind rai). The Sikhs of the Khalsa can be identified with the given Five Ks and given names Singh(lion) and Kaur(princess).

On an enquiry by Stalin that how will India bridge the gulf between poor and rich, Dr Radha Krishnan, philospher, diplomat and statesman said, "Just as Guru Gobind Singh did it".
One of the biggest sacrifices of all was in Chamkaur sahib when Guruji and his mere 40 Singhs were surrounded by a army of thousands. It was one of the biggest battle in the history known as The Battle Of Chamkaur(Click and Read Kamal's Blogs for BATTLE OF CHAMKAUR) .He sent his two elder sons Ajit Singh and Jujhar Singh to the battlefield.Every father wants to see his child get married, but this was the time of fighting the enemy and defending the path of righteousness.
While describing the importance of the land of Chamkaur, Allah Yaar Khan Jogi penned these immortal lines in his account:-
Bas ek Hind mein tirth hai yatra ke liyae,
Katai Bap ne betey jahan khuda ke liyae(Hindi/Urdu).
There's just one place for pilgrimage in India,
where a father sacrificed his sons for god.
Two younger sons Zorawar Singh and Fateh Singh were captured and asked to convert, but they declined. These two young brave souls, aged 5 and 7, were not scared, tempted or lured to give up their faith. They were bricked alive in Sirhind.
They were lured at every point while the wall was being raised, but they roared"We are lions! We are not threatened by death! Keeping our Sikhi we will die till our last breath."
"Those whom Waheguru attaches to the hem of His robe, are the true dervishes"
Sikhs, today address the 4 sons of GURUJI as SHAHIBZADE, out of shear love.
While imprisoned on top of an open tower during the cold month of December, Mata Gujar kaur ji(GURUJI's Mother) continually did simran with no complaints about her physical being. She attained martyrdom the same day as her grandsons after hearing that her grandsons had been bricked alive rather than give up their faith. Her mission had been fulfilled.
Shashi Bala, Reader of Guru Nanak Dev University, writes, “Mata Gujri holds the position of wife of a martyr, mother of martyr, the grandmother of martyrs and herself a martyr.”
How can i describe Guruji, who did not shed a tear on his son's and mother's death but says,"Char Mue Tho Kiya Hooa, Jivat Kaye Hazaar".
"What if 4 have died, still thousand(KHALSA) of my sons/daughters are alive."
He created such SIKHS who feared nothing ,
Purja purja kat merai kabhu na chadeh kheit.

"And, though cut piece by piece, the hero never abandons the battlefield."
Macgregor in his famous History of the Sikhs (1846 p.101) says:
"If we consider the work which Govind accomplished both in reforming his religion and instituting a new code of laws for his followers, his personal bravery under all circumstances, his persevering endurance amidst difficulties which would have disheartened others and overwhelmed them, in inextricable distress; and lastly his final victory over the powerful enemies by the very men who had previously forsaken him, we need not be surprised that the Sikhs venerate his memory. He was, undoubtedly, a great man."

Guruji left his physical body along with his horse Dilbagh (aka Neela Ghora) on 7 October 1708 at Nanded, before which he had declared the Guru Granth Sahib as his successor.Granth Sahib  is the holy book which contains writings(GURBANI) of Sikh gurus,Bhagats and some sikhs. It is the final and eternal guru of the Sikhs, who read the gurbani and worship ONE LORD and restain from useless false practices and superstitions.

One of the best books about GURU GOBIND SINGH is 'SAHIB-E-KAMAAL GURU GOBIND SINGH' by LALA DAULAT RAI(AN ARYA SAMAJI) of DERA GHAZI KHAN(Pakistan)in 1901.[Here is the link to the book- http://laladaulatrai.com/ ,This book is also available in stores in Punjabi,English,Hindi,Urdu,Telgu,Tamil and many others Languages.]
Lala ji writes,"Krishna, Ram Chandra and Shankara were great men and in their time they performed great deeds. Guru Gobind Singh surpassed them all in working wonders for the nation and the country."

The Greatest Patriot of all times, whose deeds are hardly weighed and his memory seems to be  passed into oblivian.

Na Kahun Abh Kee, Na Kahun Tab Kee,
agar na hote Guru Gobind Singh, to sunnat hoti sab kee"
I talk about neither yesterday nor tomorrow; I talk about today. Had there been no Gobind Singh, All would have been under Islamic sway.(circumcised)
-Baba Bulleh Shah/Allah Yogi Yaar Khan.

Bhai Nand Lal Goya, the persion scholar in guruji's court has
rightly written,"NASRO MANSOOR GURU GOBIND SINGH,EZDI MANZOOR GURU GOBIND SINGH"

"GURU GOBIND SINGH IS THE HELPER OF OTHERS ,HE HIMSELF HAS THE HELP OF GOD"

ALLAH YOGI YAAR KHAN was devot muslim and a writer,he wrote a lot about  GURUJI,When he had become an old man, a Qazi went to his house and said to him, “Jogia, come with me and ask for forgiveness. You have grown old and should die as a true Muslim.” Allah Yaar Khan said, “I have done nothing wrong. What I wrote about Guru Ji is the truth and I will not go back.” Hearing this the Qazi got mad and said, “Then you wanna die as a kafir?” Yaar khan replied, “I am kafir from Mohammad but not for Guru Gobind Singh Ji. I see Guru Ji sitting in Bahishat (heaven) with open arms and waiting for me. I want His love and want to die as Guru Ji’s servant.” Qazi left and Allah Yaar Khan died remembering Guru Ji every moment of his life.

The Battle of Chamkaur

"When God Almighty is one’s friend, what can the enemy do even if he sends hundreds of men upon him."
                                                                                                                                    ZAFARNAMA.

Date -6 dec,1704                                                           The Battle Of Chamkaur or also known as Battle Of Chamkaur Sahib was a battle fought between the Khalsa led by Guru Gobind Singh against the Mughal forces led by Wazir Khan and other Mughal Generals.
Thousands of Mughal troops attacked his Sikhs who were only 40 in number and without food.[2] In spite of their numerical strength, the Mughal soldiers were unable to kill or capture the Guru Gobind Singh. Guruji writes in Zafarnama to Aurangzeb-

"What can forty hungry men do, when suddenly ten-lac strong army pounces upon them?"
Then later he writes-
"Look at the powerful and good Lord. His reach is such that He can get ten lac annihilated by only one."
In the chilly hours of december ,first one Singh came out and when he was about to become Shaheed (martyr), he roared the Jaikara (slogan) of "Sat Siri Akal!" As soon as the sound of "Sat Siri Akal" echoed throughout the battlefield, the next Singh came out to fight in the battleground. The Nawab was astonished at what these Singhs were made of. He remembered the sayings of the Sikhs that "One Sikh equalled Sava Lakh (125,000)" .
A portrait of Shaibzada Ajit Singh in war
Singhs went in jathas(Groups) as there numbers were few,but Numbers never mattered to Khalsa who believed in quality.Who wants a mob of lakhs of useless sheeps when you have limited number of  lions.Soon after ,Guru ji's eldest son Shaibzada Ajit Singh requested guru ji to let him taste the sweetness of martyrdom in war .Every father wants to see his child get married, but this was the time of fighting the enemy and defending the path of righteousness and that day death was waiting and Baba Ajit Singh would be marrying death.
Baba Ajit Singh with the five Sikhs advanced swiftly onto the battlefield displaying his great courage, bravery and skills with weapons. The enemy was immediately repulsed. After killing many hundreds of the enemy, the group began to take casualties. Slowly the impact of the unit began to diminish and after almost an hour, the enemy began surrounding the Sahibzada from all four sides. Baba Ajit Singh called out, "Come nearer if you have courage." The soldiers ran away frightened. When Baba attained Shaheedi, Guru Sahib roared a Jaikara of "Sat Siri Akal" full of emotions and courage - a salutation to the Almighty for the blessing of such a brave and noble son.
Sahibzada Jujhar Singh watched his brother Ajit Singh in action with his father, Guru Gobind Singh .The news of Baba Ajit Singh attaining Shaheedi (martyrdom) spread. Hearing the news of his brother, Baba Jujhar Singh now desired to fight in the battlefield. He asked Guru Sahib, "Permit me, dear father, to go where my brother has gone. Don't say that I am too young. I am your son. I am a Singh, a Lion, of yours. I shall prove worthy of you. I shall die fighting, with my face towards the enemy, with the Naam on my lips and the Guru in my heart."
The Mughals were shocked at what they saw. To the enemy, it looked as if Ajit Singh had come back. This new force of six Khalsa soldiers killed many hundreds of the enemy; many simply ran away. The enemy were stunned by the heavy force and thrust of this second attack and had little choice but to retreat back.
" They may be cut apart, piece by piece, but they never leave the field of battle. 22." (Ang 1105, SGGS)
This was truly a sign of a dedicated warrior! By the time Baba Jujhar Singh had attained Shaheedi nightfall had arrived and the moon could be seen in the sky. There were a total of 11 Singhs left on the evening of December 7 ,1704. Fighting paused at nightfall while the Mughals regrouped but this also gave valuable time to the few remaining Sikhs to hatch a plan.
Singhs said,"At Kesgarh Sahib we watched you beseeching the five beloved ones to initiate you with Amrit. You had said then, I am of the Khalsa, and the Khalsa is mine. Today we ask in the capacity of the Khalsa to beseech you to leave Chamkaur and escape to a safer place." Guru Sahib had no choice but to accept their demands.
As day broke, the Mughals launched an all out attack on the fortress. There was stiff resistance. They finally entered the fort, after hours of battering the fort, but Bhai Sangat Singh, Bhai Sant Singh and the remaining Sikhs charged out on horseback. They engaged the enemy and killed scores of the enemy before attaining martyrdom. The Mughals thought they had killed Guru Ji but the Guru had already escaped. The Khalsa lived to fight another day. Guru Sahib had not left quietly. On leaving, Guru Sahib blew his horn and stood on high ground and clapped his hands three times saying "PeerÚ Hind Rahaavat" ("The "Peer" of India is leaving").

After finding out that the Guru had escaped, the Mughals started searching the woods and the area surrounding Chamkaur.
The Mughals hastingly chased after the Guru once they realised he had escpaed. Guru Gobind Singh made a  last stand against the Mughals at Muktsar, where the imperial army was defeated outright and retreated. The battle of Muktsar was the last battle fought by Guru Gobind Singh.

"Blessed is that land, blessed is that father, blessed is the great mother. Whose son has shown the way to live, for centuries to come."
